BitLeap feature alerts to third-party failures
Jun. 3, 2007 8:58pm
Carlisle, PA - BitLeap, a national provider of offsite data backup solutions, announced today a new feature aimed at increasing reliability of backup routines initiated by independent software applications.

File Watch Rules, a new feature of BitLeap’s data backup solution, allows smart conditions to be setup for alerting customers to possible problems with third party scheduling routines as they happen. These “rules” can be configured to alert backup administrators if critical files that are expected to be created on a regular basis do not appear or are not the correct size.
By setting up file watch rules for critical files, such as Microsoft Exchange backups or MS SQL database snapshots, administrators will now have centralized pass/fail management for all of their important backup routines. This feedback can save the day when critical backup routines conducted by third party software fail due to unexpected circumstances like system lock-ups, hardware failures, insufficient drive capacity and other factors.
According to BitLeap’s CEO, Guy Suter, “This may be the first time that a centralized backup solution has had the ability to alert users when external third-party routines fail. We think it is an exciting feature for users who wish to integrate complex backup, replication and recovery options, which often involve several products from a range of vendors, into a simplified management structure.”
About BitLeap
BitLeap’s innovative backup solution was released in 2004. This solution allows businesses of any size to implement automatic offsite data backups with ease. BitLeap’s backup solution is hardware-based, allowing customers to efficiently backup and retain their current and desired historic data both locally for quick network recovery and offsite securely to two geographically separated data centers.
