100,000,000+ Files Protected!

Nov. 29, 2006 2:30pm

BitLeap crossed a very impressive line a few months ago in that we are now backing up well over 100 million files for our customers! The individual files backed up by BitLeap range in size from a less than a kilobyte to many gigabytes. BitLeap’s CEO, Guy Suter, just says, “It feels good to be part of the club,” about passing the mammoth milestone.

BitLeap currently protects data for customers from 29 states in the United States by automatically and securely backing up their data oth onsite and to two secure offsite data storage facilities. BitLeap’s innovative backup technology enables businesses to realize the benefits of a dedicated backup server, called LeapServ, to backup data more efficiently and securely than other data backup methods.

BitLeap’s LeapServ backup server collects the current data from each of the servers it is backing up for the first time during the initial backup period. After the initial backup is completed, the LeapServ is set to check for changed and new data as often as the customer would like. When the system identifies new or changed information, it will analyze each file at the bit level and only has to copy and transfer the new bit sequences in the files themselves. This techniques saves a lot of Internet bandwidth and keeps the costs affordable for storing many revisions of the same file over time.
