Why not use USB Key Drives to backup?

They are useful and cute but so are sunglasses and you would not use those for shelter.

The Problem

The problem with using a USB flash drive to backup critically important business data is that you are using the device for something far greater than it was designed for. It is akin to parachuting with a kite.

First of all, they have a very limited storage capacity. Secondly, you are limited to dumping current state data only and can not maintain a historic backup. Most importantly though, flash drives have a limit to the number of write cycles. It’s gonna die. Just ask the manufacturer.

Grab and Go

Those little handy keychain devices are just that, handy. They are not a solid platform for securely protecting your business’ critical data. If you want to take that presentation you are working on home or want to bring in some pictures from the most recent company bowling trip, grab the handy USB Key Drive. If your business has seriously important data to protect, call BitLeap.
