GroupWise Message-Level Backups

Setup your GroupWise® server to do message-level backups with BitLeap.

Requirements

GroupWise Setup Steps

  1. From a Microsoft Windows® workstation that has the Novell Client installed, login with an account that has access to the GroupWise primary domain database file wpdomain.db.

  2. Launch the BitLeap GroupWise Trusted Application Key Generator application and input the path to the folder that contains the GroupWise primary domain database file wpdomain.db. Then click the Generate Key button. Copy the key that is generated, as you will be asked for this key when you setup the backups in the BitLeap Control Panel.

  3. (Optional) If you would like BitLeap to backup all e-mails, you will need to setup GroupWise to retain e-mails. This feature will instruct GroupWise not to purge out e-mails until our product has a backup copy of the e-mail. For information on how to set this up, please view the instructions that Novell has posted, specifically Setting Client Options and Environment Options: Retention sections.

BitLeap Control Panel Steps

Now that you have setup your GroupWise installation to allow us to access it through the trusted application key generator, you can now add it to the control panel:

  1. Add your server with a proper hostname or IP address, description, NetWare version, username and password or locate it in the existing list if it has already been added previously.
  2. Next to your server click Add Backup Data
  3. Enter a description and change the data type to GroupWise, then enter the Base Context, Trusted Application Key that you generated earlier and e-Directory Hostname.
  4. Now click the Test GroupWise Connectivity button to verify all the data entered is correct.
  5. If the connectivity test returns OK, you can now pick what mailboxes you wish to backup.
  6. Click Save Changes
