Can You Backup Microsoft Exchange?

Yes! BitLeap® supports backing up Exchange on two levels: Full and Message. Exchange Full (currently in Beta) allows you to perform full and log backups (much like NTBackup) allowing you to fully restore the Storage Groups quickly and easily in the event of a disaster. Exchange Message-Level backups allow you to backup every message that goes in and out of your Exchange server for later searching and restoration on a message, folder, or mailbox basis. Both methods, in concert, allow you to very easily browse and restore per-message, while still being able to restore your entire install in the event of a business-crippling disaster.

Setting up Full Exchange backups is as simple as downloading and installing the BitLeap Windows Agent (currently in Beta) on your Exchange server, ensuring that circular logging is disabled (it is disabled by default, instructions for modifying this setting are avaliable from Microsoft), then adding the server and an Exchange Full share with your Exchange information in the Customer Control Panel.

To setup Message-Level Exchange backups, please read the Exchange Message-Level Backups FAQ.
